SOFTWARE CHANGES - SUMMER 2013

Apple logo

All Mac labs will be upgraded to OSX Mountain Lion.   Legacy software will not run on Mountain Lion.  All Mac lab scanner stations are currently running Lion for testing purposes.  Please test your software on the scanner stations to ensure that it is compatible with Lion.  If you have any questions, problems, or concerns related to this, please contact Eddie Roadcap at <roadcawe@jmu.edu>

All PC labs and classrooms will be upgraded to Internet Explore 10

Adobe Creative Suites and Photoshop will NOT be upgraded this year due to Adobe adopting new product roadmap plans.

Due to Mozilla's rapid development and release schedule, we can no longer maintain Firefox at the most current and stable version.   IT general use labs will receive the Long Term Support version of Firefox that is available for download when the fall semester image is created, cir. July 15.  We cannot as yet predict which version that will be.

Microsoft Office will be upgraded to version 2013 in all PC labs and classrooms

The following math and statistic applications will be upgraded:  SPSS v21, Amos v21, SAS 9.3, Mathematic 8, Maple 16

NOTE:
All software is installed with standard/default settings. If you need add-ins or customizations, you must submit a Software Installation Request Form to ensure they are included in our images. Specific customizations and settings must be detailed in the software request.

Submitters of class-specific software requetss are responsible for researching and testing their requested software for compatibility in the labs.  New operating systems and major software applications are typically piloted in Carrier 101 and the 24 hour labs.  Other accommodations can be made upon request.
