CompuTING Labs

General Use Labs 

General use computing labs are available to the general JMU population at various locations on campus and may be reserved by faculty and staff.   General access may be limited when the labs are reserved.  A JMU JACard is usually required for entry into the general use labs.

• Lab Locations

  Locate labs on campus.

• Lab Hours

  View lab hours of operation and exceptions. Hillside Hall and the East Campus Library have 24-hour labs.

• Available Software

  View a menu of available software by lab name or by software title.

• Printing

  Pay-for-Print printing facilities are provided in many computer labs and in the Carrier and East Campus Libraries.  Documents may be submitted from most lab or library computers as well as wirelessly from a personal laptop computer.

Faculty and Staff

• General Use Lab Reservations

  Request a new reservation or cancel an existing reservation.

• Software Installation Request

  Before purchasing class-specific software, read the Class Specific Software Install Policy to ensure that the software you purchase will meet the requirements for installation in the labs and technology classrooms. After reviewing the policy, complete the Software Installation Request.

• Departmental Labs

  Departmental Labs  are available for "hands-on" instruction, but their use is generally limited to students and faculty within that department.

• Technology Classrooms

  Technology Classrooms (TCs) are teaching facilities on campus in which advanced computing and multimedia hardware and software are installed for faculty and other users who need these resources for teaching and presentation purposes.

• Ashby Lab

  The Ashby Lab, located in the basement of Ashby Hall, is an assessment lab used solely for test-based applications. View the schedule or learn more about reserving the lab for assessment testing.
