Polished, professional communication is critical to effectively convey information and is an absolute requirement to advance anyone’s career at JMU. This course offers simple and clear tips to edit writing, apply it in a variety of media, and create style guides and templates to streamline your work.

Dinah Bailey facilitates this workshop. She has over 15 years of experience as a technical writer/editor, and received her MA from JMU in Technical and Scientific Communication.


After completing this session, you will be able to:

  • Use five keys to effective editing
  • Apply rules to emails, presentations and blog posts
  • Edit your own and others’ work
  • Apply basic formatting
  • Create style guides and templates to increase productivity
