Briana is a graduate assistant working for the Challace J. McMillin Center for Sport Psychology and a first-year doctoral student in the Clinical and School Psychology Psy.D. Program at James Madison University. She graduated from Robert Morris University near Pittsburgh, PA, where she received her B.S. in Clinical and Sport Psychology and M.S. in Counseling Psychology. While at RMU, Briana was a student-athlete and member of the Division I Softball team for four years. As a former Division I student-athlete, she understands the unique set of challenges, demands, and expectations faced by student-athletes. Briana provides team workshops and individual sessions focused on meeting one’s needs, supporting individuals as they strive for their goals, as well as optimizing sport performance by learning about well-being. Briana’s research interests include sport and performance psychology, mental toughness, athletic identity, student-athlete mental health and well-being, help-seeking behaviors and attitudes of student-athletes toward mental health through a cultural and systemic lens, as well as sport injuries and its impact on mental health and wellness.
