Dr. William (Bill) Riley is a JMU alumnus who retired after 17 years of service with the National Institutes of Health (NIH), including 7 years as Associate Director for Behavioral and Social Science Research. He also served at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), and the National Cancer Institute (NCI). Prior to NIH, Dr. Riley served for 15 years in academic medical schools as well as six years in the private sector. Dr. Riley’s research interests include behavioral assessment, digital interventions for health risk factors, and the application of engineering and computer science methodologies to the behavioral and social science.
