Spring Orientation is designed to prepare you for your transition to campus in January. This all-day program (7:45 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.) is full of opportunities for you and your family to discover everything JMU offers. It's also when you enroll in your first semester classes!

Please read the information below to answer questions you may have about Spring Orientation.

 

What should I bring to Orientation?

  • All college transcripts and course descriptions (this is very important!)
  • Your eID and password to enroll in classes
  • A photo ID (such as a driver's license, government-issued photo ID or passport)
  • Your fully charged phone or device to use for Duo 2-factor authentication to log in to MyMadison
  • Wear comfortable, casual clothes and shoes because you will be doing lots of walking
  • An umbrella (in case of rain), boots (in case of snow) or sunglasses (in case of sun)

Orientation Fee

Your university financial account will be charged the $180 Orientation Fee whether or not you choose to attend Spring Orientation. Learn more about Madison Money Manager through your One Book steps. You will receive an email from the University Business Office when your account is charged for spring semester.

Inclement Weather Plan

If there is inclement weather and/or JMU is closed due to weather on December 6, Orientation will take place on December 9. Additional information will be posted on the Orientation website and social media.

Disability Accommodations

As you complete your Orientation Reservation & Declaring a Major step, please enter accommodation requests in the appropriate area when asked. Important Dates

James Madison University will be closed for winter break beginning at 1 p.m. on December 19, 2019, and will re-open at 8 a.m. on January 2, 2020. The first day of spring classes is January 13, 2020.
