1787 Weeks of Welcome events will begin the night that first-year students move into their residence hall and are expected to be on campus and participate in these activities.  What is 1787 Weeks of Welcome?

It was August 1787 when James Madison and his buddies met in Philadelphia to write the U.S. Constitution. Through wigs and wooden teeth, they made a tremendous transition! This country was never the same and you won't be either after your time during 1787. It is called 1787 because the month of August will begin a tremendous transition for you.

 When are the dates for 1787 Weeks of Welcome?

For first-year students, 1787 Weeks of Welcome begins when you move into your residence hall. Transfer students will begin on Monday, Aug. 23. The schedule will go through the first two and a half weeks of the semester, Sept. 12. You will utilize Guidebook to make your schedule, both mandatory and optional, during these weeks. Although the schedule of programs provided will end on Sept. 12, the fun doesn’t end as various programs continue throughout the entire academic year which can be found on the JMU Event Calendar.

 As a transfer student, where can I park for programming before classes begin?

Transfer students participating in programming can park in any student lot that begins with R or C without a permit prior to classes beginning. All other parking regulations are in effect and are being enforced.
