Welcome to the JMU History Studio!
Located on the first floor of Wilson Hall, the JMU History Studio provides equipment, guidance, and opportunities for digital humanities projects. The Studio is home to a variety of technology and software that students and faculty can utilize to produce creative projects, including 3D printers, podcasting equipment, cameras, and more. See the Studio Resource Guides for a full list of available equipment and instructions on how to get started with them.
Past projects have included podcasts, VR tours, and oral histories. See Sample Student Projects to explore the possibilities and get inspired for your own work. The Studio also offers class tours for faculty wishing to introduce their students to the broad field of digital humanities and class sessions for using the VR headset or other equipment to complement the course.
If you have an idea for a project, a class session, or are just curious, get in touch via email or stop by during open hours. The History Studio is operated by graduate students in the History Department under the supervision of a faculty advisor. This year’s graduate assistants are Jenna Harper and Kira Quintin, advised by Dr. Fawn-Amber Montoya.
