Meghan Hyatt, M.Ed., brings over 15 years of experience in education, specializing in special education across elementary and international settings. She began her career supporting students with a range of needs, from mild to extensive support, and spent two years at an International School in Jeju-do, South Korea, where she helped establish a comprehensive support system for students from PreK to Grade 12.
Currently, Meghan serves as a Regional Ambassador for the Virginia Department of Education’s I’m Determined Center at James Madison University. In this role, she empowers youth with disabilities to develop self-advocacy skills, supports families in fostering self-determination, and coaches educators to integrate self-determination skill development within classrooms, schools, and divisions. She is also active in the VDOE’s Assistive Technology Network, assisting school divisions in enhancing their understanding and use of assistive technology statewide.
Before joining the Center, Meghan was a Program Specialist in Assistive Technology and Intellectual Disabilities at The Training and Technical Assistance Center (T/TAC) and Virginia Commonwealth University, where she enjoyed coaching teachers on best practices to better support students across Virginia.
Outside of work, Meghan enjoys Irish dance, crafting, audiobooks, and being with her friends and family.
