Biography

Dayna Henry is the Interim Assistant Director of the Scholarship Area at the Center for Faculty Innovation and Associate Professor of Health Sciences in the College of Health and Behavioral Studies. Dayna is passionate about helping faculty feel professionally fulfilled in their teacher-scholar roles. She started professional development work as a doctoral student training other students on pedagogy and effective teaching. She joined JMU in 2016 and served as a faculty associate running the Engaged Teacher-Scholar Program between 2018 and 2022. This program supports faculty engaging in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL). She also served as the inaugural Coordinator of Student Creative Activities and Research in the Office of Research and Scholarship from 2021-2022, and since 2017, has consulted with the Libraries’ Instructional Design Team using her certificate in Educational Technology (JMU ’21). Prior to this, she was a faculty member at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) where she earned the prestigious Provost’s Teaching Excellence Award in 2016. Outside of work, Dayna enjoys tennis, pickleball, traveling, cooking, painting, and spending time with her family, friends, and cats.
