Voice Mail

Things You Should Know

Once you become familiar with the prompts used by VoiceMail, you may proceed with entering the necessary digits without waiting for all the instructions.

You may access VoiceMail from any touch-tone telephone on or off-campus.

Check and clear your messages regularly. In order to continue collecting messages, your VoiceMail will automatically delete messages more than three days old.

VoiceMail is voice activated. Whenever a recording is made, VoiceMail continues to record until complete silence is detected. You will hear, "Recording complete.".

When you record a greeting for your callers, be aware of background noises that could be heard in your greeting. Speak clearly and slowly.

If a star key or a pound key appears in your instructions, you must depress the appropriate keys on the telephone keypad.

Always PRESS X number 9 key to exit a session. This insures that all changes you have made are saved.

Callers to your VoiceMail box do not need a touch-tone telephone to listen to your greeting or to leave a message.

Remember that greetings will be randomly checked by telecommunications staff. You are expected to use VoiceMail in a responsible manner. Any use of profanity or obscenity will result in the loss of your VoiceMail.
