Checking Messages

VoiceMail gives you step-by-step recorded instructions every time you dial into the system. Once you are comfortable using VoiceMail, you can proceed without listening to all the instructions each time. If you ever have any questions or problems with your VoiceMail, you can call the JMU Telecom Office at 568.6471 for assistance.

PLEASE NOTE: Check and clear your messages regularly. In order to continue collecting messages, your VoiceMail will automatically delete unplayed messages after 2 weeks, and played messages will be deleted after 1 week.

OPTION 1 - FROM YOUR PHONE

DIAL 84411 from your phone.

VoiceMail will respond with:
"Hello (your name). Please, enter your passcode"

ENTER YOUR PASSCODE

After you've entered your passcode, VoiceMail will tell you how many messages are in your mailbox. To listen to your messages: PRESS P (the 7 key) to play the current message.
After you've heard the message:

PRESS K (the 5 key) to KEEP the message.

PRESS D (the 3 key) to DISCARD the message.

While listening to the message, you may pause or move backward or forward within the message to take down information.

PRESS 1 to pause for up to 30 secondes. Press any key to continue.

PRESS to move backward five seconds. PRESS to move forward five seconds.

OPTION 2 - FROM ANOTHER CAMPUS PHONE OR FROM OFF-CAMPUS

DIAL 82211 from any other campus phone.

DIAL 568.4411 from an off-campus phone.

VoiceMail will respond with:
"Hello. You have reached JMU VoiceMail. To access your mailbox, please press and your five digit phone extension. If you would like to leave a message for someone, just dial their five digit extension number without the ."

PRESS AND YOUR FIVE DIGIT PHONE NUMBER

"Please, enter your passcode."

ENTER YOUR PASSCODE
