On-Campus Dialing Instructions

EFFECTIVE 5/26/10

  Dial ON-CAMPUS, LOCAL and TOLL FREE numbers at no charge (NO PIN REQUIRED).

ON-CAMPUS
Dial the LAST 5 DIGITS of an on-campus telephone number.
EXAMPLES: STUDENT: 612-1234, dial 2-1234
FACULTY/STAFF: 568-1234, dial 8-1234

LOCAL
Dial 9 + (Seven Digit Phone Number).

TOLL FREE
Dial 9 + (1 + 8xx + Phone Number).

PRE-PAID CARD OR CALLING CARD
Dial 9 + (1 + 8xx + Phone Number)
Continue to follow pre-paid or calling card instructions.

COLLECT CALLING
Dial 9 + (0 + Area Code + Phone Number).
Instruct operator as to type of call you wish to place.
ACCEPTING a collect/third party call from a JMU phone is PROHIBITED.

A Telecom PIN is REQUIRED to place long distance, international and directory assistance calls from hallway courtesy phones and residence hall room  phones.

LONG DISTANCE (PIN REQUIRED)
Dial 9 + (1 + Area Code + Number). AT THE TONE, enter 6- digit PIN. Long distance is billed at 8¢ per minute in the USA.

INTERNATIONAL (PIN REQUIRED)
Dial 9 + (011 + Country Code + City Routing Code + Local Phone Number). AT THE TONE, enter 6-digit PIN. International rates vary.

LOCAL/NATIONAL DIRECTORY ASSISTANCE (PIN REQUIRED)
Dial 9 + 411 OR Dial 9 + (1 + Area Code + 555-1212).
AT THE TONE, enter 6-digit PIN. Billed at 95¢ per call.
