Computing Accounts

Learn more about and request various computing accounts used for university systems and applications, web servers and desktop computers. Please view additional information specific to students and faculty/staff.

  • JMU e-ID

    All JMU students, faculty and staff activate and update their JMU e-ID (electronic identification) and password through the Accounts Portal.  Learn more about your JMU e-ID that is created automatically upon affiliation with JMU for access to various university applications (e-mail, J-Ess, e-campus, Blackboard, etc.) and secure authenticated web pages.
  • Peregrin Unix Web Server

    Peregrin - a Unix web server - is available to all JMU students, faculty and staff for publication purposes.  Accounts are requested by logging into the Accounts Portal with a JMU e-ID and password, then clicking on the Web and General Server Accounts link on the left, choosing the Peregrin tab. then completing the online request.

Students

  • Student Organizations Web Space for Clubs

    Orgs.jmu.edu is the Windows web server available to Student Organizations for publishing organizational websites.

Faculty/Staff

  • Novell Netware Accounts

    Department Heads or Supervisors may request Novell Netware Accounts for employees to access JMU's Novell Netware File and Print Environment.


  • Oracle Calendar and Resource Accounts

    Department Heads or Supervisors may request access for employees to Oracle Calendar - JMU's group calendaring application.


  • Web Server Accounts

    Learn more about and request access to publish to the main JMU web (www.jmu.edu), secureweb, web.jmu.edu and people.jmu.edu web servers by visiting http://www.jmu.edu/computing/web/.


  • Specialized Departmental Active Directory Groups

    Department Heads or Supervisors may request access for employees to Specialized Departmental Active Directory Groups such as Medicat, RMS, Allegiance, Facility Focus, Kronus and more.


  • Windows Desktop User Accounts

    Windows Desktop User Accounts are created when new computers are setup through the Computing HelpDesk. Department Heads or Supervisors may contact the Computing HelpDesk 568-3555 for additional accounts for computers shared by multiple staff.


  • Mac OS Desktop Accounts

    Mac OS Desktop Accounts are created when new computers are setup through the Computing HelpDesk. Department Heads or Supervisors may contact the Computing HelpDesk 568-3555 for additional accounts for computers shared by multiple staff.
