Suwatana (Pla) Rockland is a Dancer, Choreographer, Producer, Director, Public Relations Director, Teacher, Jewelry Designer, and Costume Designer.
Pla joins JMU from The College of Wooster where she was a resident costume designer, professor, and costume shop supervisor. She is originally from Thailand where she was a professional dancer, actress and choreographer. She has worked on commercials, TV shows, and stage productions and holds an MFA in Costume Design from Kent State University. Suwatana is a proud member of United Scenic Artists, Local USA 829, IATSE and USITT. Her professional credits have included: Cleveland Playhouse, Baldwin Wallace, Beck Center for The Arts, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland Public Theater, Dobama Theatre, East Meets West, Cleveland Public Theatre, Players Guild Theatre, Karamu House, Ohio Light Opera, Patravadi Dance Theatre, Porthouse Theatre, and Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe.
