Visiting Assistant Professor of Costume Design

Harri Horsley is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor of Costume Design at James Madison University.  They hold an MFA in Costume Design from the University of Texas at Austin and a BFA in Design/Technology -Theatre Studies from Kent State University. Harri is a 2nd generation Afro Costa Rican-American, a Texan, and a native child of the Chicago Southside. They have previously taught at Illinois Wesleyan University and the University of Texas at Austin. Currently and in the future as an interdisciplinary artist, a queer person, and a product of centuries of migration from their ancestors, Harri’s main goal as a costume designer is to help enhances stories of grit and transcendence in art. Harri's favorite things to do are historical costume conservation, visiting worldly museums to educate themselves in anthropological findings, reading a really well written book, traveling to new frontiers, and playing with their dog, Harper, a Giant Schnoodle puppy.
