JACard
If you are attending courses on the JMU Campus and intend to use the facilities such as the University Recreational Education Center (UREC), computer labs or the Library, you will need to obtain your JMU Access Card (also known as a JACard). The JACard identifies you as a student member of the university community and has your picture and student ID number printed on it.
To obtain a JACard, go to Card Services on the 2nd floor of the Student Success Building. They are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Your first card is free, but there is a charge for replacements.
Parking at JMU
Obtaining a parking permit at JMU is essential if you plan to drive to campus. Parking regulations are strictly enforced 24 hours a day and tickets can be expensive. Parking permits can be ordered online through the parking services web site, or purchased from the parking services office on the ground floor of the parking garage near the stadium. Refer to the parking services web site for current permit costs.
JMU e-mail
When you become a student, you will be assigned a JMU e-mail address. You can setup and access your JMU Dukes email e_ID@Dukes.jmu.edu at https://www.jmu.edu/computing/email/. Your email password is different from, and not synchronized with, your JMU e_ID password. You may reset your JMU Dukes email password by logging into MYMadison and going to the MyAccounts tab.
You may access your email on a mobile device, forward you JMU emails to another e-mail account, or set your JMU email account to receive messages from your existing email accounts. For this and other frequently asked questions, go to https://www.jmu.edu/computing/email/.
Textbooks
Course text books can be purchased through the JMU bookstore either online or on campus. The contact number for the bookstore is 540-568-3995.

If you have any problems with activating your JMU e-ID or need technical assistance with any of the JMU systems, contact the JMU IT Help Desk at 540-568-3555 or https://www.jmu.edu/computing/helpdesk/.
