The Strategic Learning Assessment (SLA) is an online 66-item comprehensive self-assessment tool designed to empower college students to develop skills that will improve their academic performance. The SLA provides standardized scores (percentile score equivalents) and national norms for ten different scales. It provides students with a picture of their strengths and weaknesses, compared to other college students. The overarching goal of completing this
assessment is to help students become more strategic, self-regulated lifelong learners.

The areas covered by the 10 scales:

  • Communication
  • Critical Thinking
  • Effective Learning Strategies
  • Focus and Concentration
  • Growth Mindset
  • Persistence
  • Seeking Help
  • Sense of Belonging
  • Stress Management
  • Test Preparation
  • Time Management

The SLA may be given during a Learning Success Strategies session to help the student and Peer Learning Assistant use their time to focus on the components most critical for the student.
