A limited submission opportunity is one in which the sponsor limits the number of proposals or applications they will consider from an applicant (JMU). The Office of Sponsored Programs has collected a list of limited submission opportunities that are of frequent interest to JMU faculty below. If you know of a commonly-recurring opportunity, or funder, that would be of interest to faculty and is not in the list below please let us know at grants@jmu.edu.
Please be aware that JMU's limited submission procedure applies to all limited submission opportunities, regardless of whether or not they are included in the list below.
Some (but not all) DoE Office of Science opportunities are limited submission. Center-type applications are frequently limited to one per institution. Other opportunities are limited to a certain number per program area (e.g., RENEW and FAIR).

Most HRSA opportunities are limited submission. This seems to be particularly true of "Technical Assistance" type opportunities and programs to establish centers. To determine if an opportunity is limited submission, please refer to the eligibility section of the full Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO). If it says "you" are limited to one application, then it is a limited submission opportunity. (Remember that JMU as an institution submits the application, not individual PIs.)
