Research:

Dr. Buckwalter's research interests are prophetic literature and biblical poetry, in particular lament poetry; the reception of the Hebrew Bible, particularly in Second Temple and rabbinic Judaism; the Dead Sea Scrolls and the interpretation of prophetic literature at Qumran; post-Holocaust theology and theology of lament. Her current project is on the prophet Jeremiah and the theological potential of lament poetry. It looks at the reception of Jeremiah's laments and the book of Lamentations in rabbinic literature and post-Holocaust theological traditions, particularly in the theological concept of divine impassibility.

Teaching:

Dr. Buckwalter is planning to teach courses in the composition and reception of the Hebrew Bible, Second Temple Judaism, apocalyptic and prophetic literature, Messianism, Dead Sea Scrolls and the Qumran community, rabbinic literature and theology, post-Holocaust readings of the Hebrew Bible, and lament poetry.
