Remy giving a tour of the TTF to childrenRemy is the Director of Education and Outreach at CASE and is State Facilitator for the Wind for Schools (WfS) program in Virginia. She works mainly with educators and school administrators to bring meaningful wind (and all alternative) energy education into the classroom. She also has an interest in offshore wind and other sources of ocean renewable energy. Remy has a background in Integrated Science and Technology as well as Oceanography.

    Dr. Jonathan J. Miles (Professor, Integrated Science and Technology), Remy M. Pangle (Director of Education and Outreach, Virginia Center for Wind Energy) Dr. S. Keith Holland (Assistant Professor, Engineering) and Dr. James W. Wilson (Assistant Professor, Integrated Science and Technology) received $24,000 from the U.S. Department of Energy for the Wind for Schools in Virginia program, hosted by James Madison University, Phase III Mod. 5 to formalize the Wind Applications Center at JMU and to employ a novel Wind for Schools facilitation scheme for K-12 schools in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

    Remy M. Pangle (Outreach and Education Director, Virginia Center for Wind Energy) received $5,000 from the Dominion Foundation for "Virginia Kid Wind Challenge" to support the challenge, allowing students to compete in constructing wind turbines to generate the most electricity while learning about the advantages of wind energy.

Wilson (Assistant Professor, Integrated Science and Technology) received $30,000 from the U.S. Department of Energy to formalize the Wind Applications Center at JMU and to employ a novel Wind for Schools facilitation scheme for kindergarten through 12th grade schools in Virginia.

The grant will help students to participate in competitions to construct wind turbines to generate the most electricity, while learning about the advantages of wind energy.

    Remy M. Pangle (Associate Director and Education and Outreach Coordinator, Integrated Science and Technology) received $20,000 from the Dominion Foundation to raise awareness and improve public perception of wind energy.

  • October 2015

    Remy M. Pangle (Associate Director, Virginia Center for Wind Energy) received $20,000 from the Dominion Foundation to participate in competitions for students to construct wind turbines to generate the most electricity, while learning about the advantages of wind energy.
