Membership Intake Process (M.I.P.)/Rush
Membership Intake/Rush is the process of selecting, educating and initiating new members into a chapter. This process is prescribed by each chapter's national organization.
I.C.G.C. organizations have membership intake either in the spring or fall semester of the given academic year. All advertising for intake/rush activities are posted on CMSS marketing boards located outside of Warren 245.
Membership intake requirements for each organization vary. Minimum requirements but, not limited to are as follows:
- Academic Requirements 2.5-2.75 Cumulative G.P.A.
- 12 Credit Hours
Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. La Unidad Latina, Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity, Inc. and Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha, Incorporada.
- 36 Credit Hours
Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
- 0 Credit Hours I.G.C.
alpha Kappa Delta Phi Sorority, Inc. and Lambda Phi Epsilon Fraternity, Inc.
Since specific requirements vary from organization to organization, we encourage you to check out organizations websites, both local and national, for more specific information. I.C.G.C. also hosts an annual Meet the Greeks event each September to answer any questions individuals may have about chapters represented under its council.
Spend time researching the various I.C.G.C. organizations. CMSS has resources books that will help expand your knowledge of multicultural Greek letter organizations.
Many organizations will host informational meetings to allow you the opportunity to learn more about their organizations.
