Total Workshop Time: 3 hours
Next Available Session: Tuesday, April 7, 2026 from 9:00am to 12:00pm
Pre-requisites: None
Location: Wine-Price Building
Description: Unlike the private sector, public employees do not rely on organizational profits or financial performance indicators to drive compensation increases. As a state agency, JMU operates within a framework influenced by cost-of-living considerations, regulatory requirements, and broader market conditions, all of which impact salaries, bonuses, and benefits. Despite these constraints, managers and supervisors play an important role in understanding and leveraging the available options to support employee compensation.
This session is designed primarily for supervisors of classified employees and provides an overview of pay practices under the Salary Administration Plan, as well as the supervisor’s responsibilities when addressing compensation-related matters.
