Mario Munta is Assistant Professor in Public Policy at the Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Zagreb, and currently also Max Weber Fellow with the Robert Schuman Centre at the European University Institute in Florence. He has been a visiting researcher at Université Libre de Bruxelles (IEE-ULB) and Adjunct Professor at KEDGE Business School in Bordeaux. He received his PhD in Political Science from the Central European University.

Mario’s research interests include EU socio-economic governance, Europeanization of public policy, Social Europe, Economic and Monetary Union and European integration. Mario is currently working on topics of democratic legitimacy of EU’s social and economic recovery from COVID-19 and is studying the greening of EU social and economic policy. He has recently authored: “EU Socio-Economic Governance in Central and Eastern Europe” (Routledge, 2021).

Prof. Munta has taught courses on Public Policy, EU Public Policy and Statistics at the University of Zagreb and is the co-founder of the Centre for Policy Writing, regularly giving trainings on how to write for public policy with impact, using policy briefs and op-eds.

In 2019 he received the Dirk Berg-Schlosser award for outstanding pedagogy from the ECPR and is the winner of the Young Scientists Award 2021 by the Society of Higher Education Professors of the University of Zagreb.
