Date and Location:

The 2017 Meet the Firm event will be held on Wednesday September 13th at the Festival Conference Student Center and Ballroom from 5-8 pm with setup beginning at 3:30. Beta Alpha Psi students will be available to assist you with unloading, guiding you to your table location, and setting up.  The Festival Conference & Student Center is located on JMU’s East Campus and the exact address for GPS users is:

Driving Directions
From I-81 North

Traveling north on 81, take exit 245 and turn right. Immediately get into the left turning lane. Make a left onto Forest Hill Rd. At the stop sign, make a left onto Oak Hill Road (which turns into University Boulevard). Continuing on University Boulevard, the Convocation Center will be on the left followed by the Arboretum on the right. Turn left at the stoplight onto Carrier Drive. The Festival Conference and Student Center is 0.25 mile on the left.

From I-81 South

Traveling south on 81, take exit 245 and turn left. After crossing over the highway, get into the left turning lane. Make a left onto Forest Hill Rd. At the stop sign, make a left onto Oak Hill Road (which turns into University Boulevard). Continuing on University Boulevard, the Convocation Center will be on the left followed by the Arboretum on the right. Turn left at the stoplight onto Carrier Drive. The Festival Conference and Student Center is 0.25 mile on the left.

Parking

Due to the construction near the Festival there will not be parking available near the event site.  Firm representatives may drop off their items in the circle drive in front of Festival but must immediately move their vehicles to R10 or R11 lots after unloading.  These lots are located off Port Republic Road alongside I-81.  Shuttles will run between these lots and the Festival continually from 2:30-9:00.  No parking permit will be required to park in these lots but if you attempt to park in a lot closer to the Festival it is highly likely that you will be ticketed.  Also, please do NOT park in metered spots, handicapped spots or fire lanes as doing so WILL result in a parking ticket!  A map of the lots can be found at http://www.jmu.edu/parking/_files/parkingmap.pdf.  If you click on the map you will find the Festival Center in the lower right quadrant and the R10/R11 lots in the lower left.  From the Festival circle you will turn right (toward e-hall) and make a right on University Blvd.  You will stay on this road until you get to Forest Hill Rd. (at the Days Inn) where you will make another right.  When you get to the light at Port Republic Rd. you will go straight through it and into the designated parking area.  We are very sorry for this inconvenience but hope that you will find this solution much easier than trying to find a parking spot nearer Festival.

On-Campus Recruiting

During the set-up period representatives from our Career and Academic Planning (CAP) office will be around in case you have questions about the Handshake process and setting up interviews.  If you’re unable to speak with them that day then please contact Quintrel Lenore (lenoreqs@jmu.edu) or call him at (540) 568-6555.

Refreshments

There will be a hospitality room for recruiters set up with beverages and light food.  Be sure to stop by Conference Room #2 before or during the event for snacks and drinks, and on your way out grab some coffee for the ride home!

Knick-Knacks

If you have any leftover “swag” at the end of the event and would be willing to donate it toward our annual Evening of Excellence event please feel free to leave it in the reception area outside the ballroom.  This event in February is attended by the highest-scoring students from the introductory financial accounting class from this fall in order to reward them for their hard work and to introduce them to the Accounting major.

Firm Representatives

Due to an expected increase in the number of firms and students over past years we are instituting a limit on the number of firm representatives (see sponsorship descriptions).  

Students are advised to wear professional dress, but your firm representatives may dress any way you deem appropriate.

Registration and Payment

Registration Deadline

If room is available, we can accept registrations until September 1st but spaces will be confirmed on a first-come first-serve basis.
