The field of accounting has one of the highest demands for new graduates of any area in today's market, and accounting graduates enjoy some of the highest starting salaries in the College of Business. The programs of study offered by the accounting program provide an educational experience intended to prepare students for a variety of careers in the accounting, financial, auditing, consulting and information systems fields.

Our graduates find employment with all of the “Big Four” international public accounting firms, which all rank JMU in their highest tier, as well as dozens of local and regional public accounting firms and major international companies.

Career Fairs

You can begin building important job search skills by participating in career-oriented events within the department and college and taking advantage of the JMU career fair.

A career fair gives you the chance to network, practice interview skills and gain industry knowledge in a less stressful environment than a typical one-on-one. As a job or internship seeker, you’ll have the chance to ask questions, make connections and discuss your skills and professional goals with employers who are excited to meet potential applicants.

Meet the Firms

In recent years, over 50 firms and organizations interested in hiring accounting, CIS and finance majors attended the career fair in search of candidates like yourself.

Accounting Externship Fair

Bring your resume and network with other students and employers at the annual Accounting Externship Fair, which gives you the chance to connect with companies that offer short one or two-day visits to their firms, providing you with an opportunity to shadow an executive to see what life in professional accounting is like.

Both externships and internships offer great opportunities to explore your chosen profession and help you make good career choices.
