Our graduates find employment with all of the “Big Four” international public accounting firms, dozens of local and regional public accounting firms and major international companies. These firms rank schools on the basis of number and quality of graduates hired as entry-level staff. Generally speaking, the top tier includes 35 to 60 schools, nationwide. James Madison University is now ranked in the highest tier by three of the firms on their national ranking. The fourth firm does not have a national ranking, but ranks by region. Again, JMU is ranked in the top tier of its Mid-Atlantic region.

The programs of study offered by the accounting program provide an educational experience intended to prepare students for a variety of careers in the accounting, financial, auditing, consulting and information systems fields. Our graduates find employment with all of the "Big Four" international public accounting firms, dozens of local and regional public accounting firms, government agencies and major international companies. The field of accounting has one of the highest demands for new graduates of any area in today's market, and accounting graduates enjoy some of the highest starting salaries in the College of Business.

Meet the Firms Night

Bring your resume to share with prospective employers. Last year over 50 firms and organizations interested in hiring Accounting, CIS, and Finance majors attended  the career fair in search of candidates like yourself.

Accounting Externship Fair

The Accounting Externship Fair is a career fair for accounting students looking for externship experiences in the summer. Externships typically are short one- or two-day visits to firms, often providing students with an opportunity to shadow an executive to see what life in professional accounting is like. At the Externship Fair, employers have the opportunity to meet with accounting students to discuss the opportunities available with their organizations in a relaxed atmosphere. Approximately 20 employers and over 100 students attended last year's event. Students are encouraged to bring resumes and ask questions.
