Break Description

participants at frontier housing site

Travel to Morehead, Kentucky to learn about affordable housing in Appalachian communities! We’ll volunteer with Frontier Housing, a non-profit that has spent 50 years breaking barriers to homeownership. Frontier Housing builds energy-efficient, affordable homes, connects families to low-interest loans, provides financial coaching, and repairs homes that are unsafe or inaccessible.

During the week, you’ll help build homes while learning about the financial education and support Frontier Housing provides to prospective homeowners. Projects may include framing walls, building subfloors, painting, installing doors and windows, trimming, and landscaping. You’ll work side-by-side with staff and community members, gaining hands-on experience and insight into how safe, affordable housing transforms lives.

We will stay on-site in Morehead and have access to common areas so we can cook meals together and reflect on the day. Help transform homes and lives while developing skills and connections that will stay with you long after the break!

Check back on October 1 to register!
