Serve. Connect. Make an Impact.

Dukes Volunteer is a volunteer program that gives students the opportunity to volunteer in the local community alongside a group of fellow Dukes. Each project is coordinated and led by trained CEVC student leaders, making it easy to show up, serve, and make a difference. No experience required.

It is free to participate in Dukes Volunteer!

We will participate in service activities with local community partner organizations. Volunteer projects can include things like food recovery, improving farmland, supporting senior citizens, and helping shelter pets in need!

Community partners vary each semester. Below are examples of previous organizations we have worked with.

Food Recovery Network (FRN): Combat food insecurity and promote sustainable food practices with the Food Recovery Network chapter at JMU! Recover unused food from JMU Dining and take it to the Salvation Army in Harrisonburg.

Jubilee Climate Farm: Support Jubilee Climate Farm by building natural solutions to climate change, food security, and farmland access to refugees!

Rockingham Harrisonburg SPCA (RHSPCA): Help shelter pets find their forever homes! Help clean kennels, cuddle cats, and lend a hand around the shelter.

VA Mennonite Retirement Community (VMRC): Help staff execute enrichment programs and provide one-on-one support to the memory care residents participating in the program or activity.

Each group will have two CEVC student leaders.
