The JMU Middle School Visit Program strives to inspire young students by providing a positive and age-appropriate college campus experience highlighting exposure to different career paths and opportunities to help students begin to focus on long-term goals. This program also addresses the Middle School Academic Career Plan (ACP) as laid out by the VDOE.

Highlights of Each Visit Include:

  • “Picture Yourself in College!” Welcome Session (30 minutes) with media
  • Lunch in Award-Winning Dining Hall (all-you-can-eat discount vouchers available for advance purchase for qualifying schools)
  • “Behind the Scenes” Campus Tour given by JMU student volunteers focusing on College Life
  • Activity or Presentation sponsored by various JMU Academic Departments
  • Other enriching college life experiences as time permits

  • Physics and Astronomy: Full-Dome Planetarium Show and Star Talk
  • School of Integrated Sciences: Geographic Science and Integrated Science & Technology Majors, Science on a Sphere program
  • College of Visual and Performing Arts: Observe a Performing Ensemble Class, Masters Classes in Dance, Theatre and the Visual Arts & Design, Tours of Art Galleries

  • JMU Athletics: “The Life of a College Athlete” Meet and discuss what it means to be a college athlete with some of JMU's athletes. Tours of facilities when available
