Mentoring for new transfer students
Our transfer student ambassadors are available to email or meet with new transfer students who would be interested in having a mentor during their first semester at JMU. You can ask them questions by email or set up one or more meetings. Learn more about mentoring.
Transfer Tailgates
Transfer Tailgates are events hosted for transfer students to meet each other and hang out for an hour before another event that is happening on campus. Students can connect and socialize over lunch, coffee, or free pizza before walking to the main event together. See this semester's schedule of Transfer events.
National Transfer Student Week
We dedicate a week each fall and spring semester to celebrate transfer students. We offer free donuts in the Advising Hub each morning and other goodies and/or events at other times. We usually choose a week just before registration so you can ask us your transfer advising questions. See this semester's schedule of Transfer events for details.
Transfer Student Leadership
Many JMU Dukes are proud to call themselves transfer students. In addition to hiring two transfer student ambassadors each year, we offer occasional opportunities for other students to serve as transfer leaders or panelists.
