Transfer First-YeaR Orientation Guide (T-FROG)

The office of Orientation and Transition is jump-starting a new leadership role for Weeks of Welcome in 2026 – former transfer students supporting new transfer students as they get ready for their first year at JMU! We will need Transfer First-YeaR Orientation Guides (T-FROGs) to:

  • Bring the enthusiasm you felt as a new transfer student to others
  • Lead students to event locations and meals
  • Facilitate conversations and connections

We are looking for 6-8 students who can clear their schedule from August 18-25 to serve on our inaugural team of T-FROGs. This is a volunteer position that not only looks great on your resume, but also includes perks like swag, free meals, and making an impact on new incoming transfer students! Apply by completing the T-FROG interest survey. Review of applications begins April 1.

Transfer Leader Panelist

A couple times each semester, the Office of Transfer Initiatives hosts panels for prospective students at nearby community colleges or at JMU. These are opportunities to volunteer and give back to JMU, your community college, and/or the next wave of students on a journey that may be similar to yours. Our transfer leader interest form is always open, so you can fill it out anytime!
