Application Deadline

Applications for the 2017-2018 academic year are reviewed on a rolling basis. 

As an applicant to JMU's M.A. program in Political Science with a concentration in European Union Policy Studies, you have the option of submitting (a) a writing sample that showcases your ability to carry out academic and/or policy-relevant research or (b) official GRE scores. If you choose to submit the writing sample, please send it in .pdf or .docx format to Dr. John Scherpereel at scherpja@jmu.edu. If submitting official GRE scores, please send them to institution code 5392, James Madison University –The Graduate School. Thank you!

International Graduate Information

International applicants will upload a credential evaluation of their non-U.S. college or university transcripts from one of the services listed at this link: Credential_Evaluation

International students are welcome to apply. Please note however, that U.S. student visas cannot be issued since this program is taught in Florence, Italy.

Transcripts of all previous academic work at the undergraduate and graduate (if applicable) level. 
Applicants must upload unofficial copies of their transcripts and if admitted, all transcripts will be verified by the Graduate School. Applicants who previously attended James Madison University still need to upload an unofficial transcript, but do not need to provide official transcripts for verification.

  • Curriculum vitae or professional resume
  • Two current letters of recommendation from professors, employers, and other professionals qualified to judge the applicant's ability to complete graduate studies.

All of the above listed requirements can/should be uploaded within the online application, and test scores, if required, should be sent electronically to the Graduate School from the Educational Testing Service.
