Ashley is a junior double majoring in Creative Advertising and Art. Her minor is with the School of Communication Studies. Ashley serves as a teaching assistant at the School of Media Arts and Design (SMAD) and loves engaging with new SMAD students. Outside of her studies, she is an enthusiastic member of Hillel as well as Video Adventure Club. She finds community and connection with other students energizing and meaningful. Ashley draws inspiration and fresh perspective from the outdoors, where her interests in the environment, hiking, camping, unplugging and videography intersect. One of her favorite destinations is Gauley Fest in West Virginia where she and the Video Adventure Club camp out, hike and attend the music festival. Ashley values finding meaning in less obvious places by turning her camera away from the action and observing the reactions of audiences and crowds. She values the power of video to capture emotions and share stories that transcend cultural barriers. She believes that art captures what it means to be human and that experience happens when people look up from their screens and care for others and the environment. Ashley hopes more people will appreciate the present, look up from their screens and “be where your feet are”.
