Meet Carleigh, the Assistant Director for SACM.

Carleigh has been with SACM since 2022. As the Assistant Director, she wears many hats. Carleigh currently supervises the Photographer and Video Producer and SACM’s undergraduate student staff. She offers art direction and troubleshooting as needed and also works on some design projects herself! Carleigh enjoys engineering creative approaches to problem-solving and connecting with students and other staff. At the office, Carleigh thrives on watching her students develop both personally and professionally. She empowers and uplifts students and colleagues alike with her sense of curiosity, enthusiasm and humor.   

Carleigh graduated from JMU in 2013 and spent nine years teaching art to high school students before accepting her current position. She gained many transferrable skills while teaching art and enjoys working with students as they navigate different transitional moments throughout their academic careers. Outside of SACM, she is also a creative and passionate person. Carleigh is a caring mom, wife, pet-parent and friend. She enjoys thrifting, fiber arts, watercolor, hiking, reading, running and growing native plants.
