Meet Derrick, SACM's Photographer and Video Producer. 

Derrick began working with SACM in Fall of 2025 after working in a similar position for Eastern Mennonite University (EMU). As the Photographer and Video Producer, he photographs events and produces videos for Student Affairs and other clients. Derrick also supervises student work for the photo and video teams at SACM and manages inventory for the department. So far, he enjoys the technical aspects of producing video best and looks forward to becoming a department resource for hardware upgrades. Derrick sees himself as walking the divide between technical thinking and creative expression in his work and uses his intuition and observation to predict the best frames for group shoots. 

In 2017, Derrick ran in the Blue Trail Marathon while in the Canary Islands and is hoping to get back into racing soon. He graduated from EMU in 2019 and found his way into experimental photography and photo processing during the pandemic. He has worked as a free-lance photographer and videographer using his self-taught skills and hopes to work with commercials in the future. Outside of work, Derrick still enjoys photography and videography in his personal time. He is passionate about soccer, Street Fighter (video game), and drawing. Outside of film, he hopes to someday complete a graphic novel.
