The Madison Money Mentors program is a student-led initiative designed to empower undergraduates with essential financial literacy skills through relatable, peer-to-peer education. By focusing on key areas of financial knowledge, the program aims to foster long-term financial wellness, reduce student debt burdens, and prepare students for life beyond college. 

 Program Objectives 

  • Equip students with core personal finance skills relevant to college and what comes next. 
  • Build a supportive peer network that fosters financial confidence and accountability. 
  • Normalize conversations about money and promote proactive financial behavior. 
  • Reduce student financial stress and encourage responsible borrowing and spending.  



Program Features

  • Peer-Led Workshops on budgeting, saving, credit, and student loans.
  • One-on-One Mentoring with trained peer mentors.
  • Resources & Tools, such as budgeting templates and financial guides.
  • Open to all JMU students.

Open drop-in hours:

Monday - 10:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Tuesday - 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Wednesday - 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Thursday - 10:00 – 5:00 PM

Friday - 12:00 – 5:00 PM

Mentor meetings take place at The Union (Taylor Hall), Room 205.
