Job Description

The Office of Residence Life hires facilities assistants during the academic year and the summer. Facilities assistants help with installing, delivering, and moving furniture, making deliveries for ResLife, assisting with inventories, and helping with building inspections and repairs. Their work is typically physically demanding. 

General Duties & Requirements:

  • Install, deliver & move furniture
  • Make deliveries for ResLife
  • Assist in maintaining ResLife inventories

  • Be able to follow oral/written instructions

ResLife Facilities Assistant - Business Operations

Yes, there will be some videos to watch as well as hands-on training.

Those who will be driving will have van training., We prefer that you have a valid driver’s license in this role. You must be 19 to drive a state vehicle.

No, we do not require uniforms.

Wear something comfortable for you to move and lift in.

Do not wear anything offensive or inappropriate. 

Most days you will be expected to carry old mattresses out of the building, new mattresses in, lofting/un-lofting beds, tilt dressers, and desks to check for feet and possibly replace whole pieces of furniture.

You will have equipment to help move furniture throughout the buildings, such as platform dollies and hand trucks.

We prefer that you can lift 75 lbs on your own; anything heavier should be carried with a coworker, and we encourage team lifting for heavy pieces.

You will be regularly using power drills but are expected to handle different screwdrivers, socket wrenches, plyers, and screen spline rollers.
