
Every summer, JMU opens its door to host a variety of camps and conferences on our campus. Conference Services is here to provide direct logistical support to ensure those events are successful. If you’re looking for real work experience that will help you enhance your resume and grow as a professional, this is could be the job for you.
We’re looking to put together a team of qualified individuals who:

- Function well in a fast-paced office environment
- Take initiative and work well with others in a TEAM setting

- Are available to work May 15 – August 6, 2023
- Able to work May 15 – 19, 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.; Normal work shifts begin
- May 25, 2023: Conference Coordinators & Administrative Coordinators
- May 20, 2023: Housing/Operations Staff
- Are able to attend Pre-Summer Orientation Sessions (April/May TBD)

Conference Coordinators: 4 Total Positions - $16/hr

Work primarily day shifts (Sunday–Saturday)

4 to 5 days per 7-day week

7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. & 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.

No ON-CALL Shifts, some evening hours required (no overnight stay)

Assigned specific conferences/camps (approximately 10 groups per coordinator); Maintain consistent contact with assigned groups’ sponsors.

Handle Check-in/out logistics for assigned groups.

Coordinate ALL logistics of assigned conferences/camps.

Meet with Operations Staff to convey meeting facility setups.

Vacation (greater than 4 days) may be possible with staff approval in June only.

Cannot take classes (unless online and don’t interfere with daytime shifts).
Administrative Coordinators: 5 Total Positions - $16/hr

Work primarily day shifts (Sunday – Saturday)

- Carry out duties as it pertains to your specific admin area.

Housing/Operations Staff: 4 Total Positions - $14/hr

Shifts will be 5:30 p.m. – midnight (Sunday – Saturday)

Working 4 nights out of a 7-day week

Serve ON-CALL shifts on campus; sleeping in a dorm room (Midnight – 8:00 a.m.)

One person serves on-call roughly 3 nights per 2-week work schedule.

Handle basic office operations during evening shifts.

Respond to any lockouts in dorms, maintenance, housekeeping issues, etc.

Assist Conference & Administrative Coordinators with tasks while on the night shift.

Perform Evening Rounds in Conference Guest dorms.

Able to take classes during each summer block session.

Ability to take vacation (up to 7 days) – TBD by Housing/Operations Staff.
