Conference Services works year-round to provide direct logistical support, ensuring that those events are successful. Academic Year Position(s)
During the academic year, conference assistant(s) will work with the Conference Services team of Residence Life. They will assist with things such as:
- Previous Summer Conference Season billing
- Scheduling for the upcoming Conference Season
- Training for the incoming Summer Conference Assistants
Summer Position(s)
Every summer, JMU opens its doors to host a variety of camps and conferences on our campus. The Summer Conference Season is one of the busiest times of year for JMU and especially for ResLife's Conference Services Team. Conference Services puts together a team of individuals, just for the summer, to make all the camps/conferences run smoothly.
Summer Conference Assistant Position Details
Summer CAs must attend a pre-summer orientation (April) and pre-season training (May, after finals)
CAs for Planning
oversee about 10 groups throughout the summer. After academic year preparations, they take over:

Maintaining contact with sponsors

Receiving/transferring housing & dining documents

Managing keys/key cards
-
Working with CA for Admin on their related conferences.
CAs for Administration
are tasked with facilitating and communicating the needs of all groups between Conference Services and their related areas of work (Residence Hall Management, Billing and Dining, or Office Administration). These individuals are the bridge between the Conference Assistants for Planning and the staff of their related areas of expertise.
CAs for Night Ops
work primarily afternoon/night shifts. They are responsible for responding to conference-related needs after hours (lockouts, late/early arrivals, unanticipated needs) as well as assisting the rest of the conference staff with preparing for conference arrivals (placing linens, inspecting rooms, placing signage, group check-ins, etc.)
