Mezzo-soprano Pascale Spinney has established herself as a versatile and compelling artist on both the operatic and concert stages. Her repertoire includes such roles as Rosina in Rossini's Il barbiere di Siviglia, Cherubino in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro, Hänsel in Humperdinck's Hänsel und Gretel, Carmen in Bizet's Carmen, Dorabella in Mozart's Così fan tutte, Léonor in Donizetti's La Favorite, and Donna Elvira in Mozart's Don Giovanni. She has performed with leading companies across Canada and the United States, including Opéra de Montréal, Manitoba Opera, Vancouver Opera, Opera on the Avalon, Pacific Opera Victoria, and St. Petersburg Opera.

Spinney is particularly recognized for her work in both beloved operatic repertoire and contemporary Canadian opera. She created the role of Countess Ebba Sparre in Julien Bilodeau and Michel Marc Bouchard's La Reine-Garçon, as well as Jane in Laura Kaminsky's February, and Epicene in John Musto and Mark Campbell's Volpone. Her portrayal of Ebba Sparre was praised by La Presse as "moving," while Opera Canada described her performance as "lush and effortless." Broad Street Review praised her "silken, dark-hued mezzo" and the "clarity and poise" of her acting as Léonor in La Favorite. Her Rosina was lauded by Revue L'Opéra for its "warmest vocal tone" and shining upper register, while Opera Canada praised her Cherubino for its comic vitality and sweetness.

Equally at home in the concert repertoire, Spinney has appeared as a soloist with orchestras and ensembles including the Orchestre Métropolitain, Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra, Kennett Symphony, York Symphony, Guelph Symphony Orchestra, Glacier Symphony Orchestra, and Chœur classique de Montréal. Her concert repertoire includes Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 and Mass in C, Durufl'és Requiem, Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle, Humperdinck's Hänsel und Gretel, Bizet's Carmen, and My Letter to the World with Lyric Fest.

A graduate of McGill University, where she earned both her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees, Spinney also holds an Artist Diploma from the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia. Her professional training includes the Atelier lyrique de l'Opéra de Montréal, Vancouver Opera's Yulanda M. Faris Young Artist Program, and the Santa Fe Opera Apprentice Program, where she received the Outstanding Apprentice Award in 2016. Her numerous distinctions include becoming a National Semi-Finalist in the 2017 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, where she received the Mrs. Edgar Tobin National Award and the People's Choice Award in the Western Canada District; an Encouragement Award from the Gerda Lissner Foundation; finalist placements with Canadian Opera Company Centre Stage and the Lyric Opera of Chicago Ryan Opera Center; and a career bursary from Jeunesses Musicales du Canada upon her acceptance to the Academy of Vocal Arts.

In addition to her performing career, Spinney is an experienced voice educator who has taught at the Montreal Academy of Music and West Island Music Academy. She is passionate about combining the technical foundations of classical singing with thoughtful, individualized instruction that encourages each singer's artistry, confidence, and unique voice.
