Voice Instructor, JMU Music Academy

Georgia Orfanides is a vocalist, conductor, educator, and director. She received her Bachelor of Music summa cum laude in Vocal Music Education from James Madison University. She completed an honors project in which she arranged, taught, and conducted the Cypriot folk song, Αχερόμπασμαν (Aherombasman), to JMU's Treble Chamber Choir. She has served as a music theory tutor at JMU, as a teaching artist for the Fairfax theater company, Moonlit Wings, and as a college choral scholar with Otterbein United Methodist Church in Harrisonburg, Va. She currently teaches choir, musical theater, piano, and directs the after school musical at J.Frank Hillyard Middle School. She also teaches private voice lessons in Broadway, Va. Her teaching philosophy centers on the concept that people are inherently creative and musical and the notion of 'if you can speak, you can sing!' She strives to foster a learning environment where students feel comfortable to take risks and play (at all ages!). Her hobbies include reading, drawing, sewing, and performing with the Wayne Theatre.
