Ziqi "Rose" Guo is a doctoral student in Performance, Literature, and Pedagogy with a Singing Health Emphasis at James Madison University, where she also earned her master's degree. Originally from China, Rose came to the United States for her studies and earned two undergraduate degrees before continuing her graduate work at JMU. She has also studied internationally at the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria.

As both a performer and educator, Rose enjoys exploring how music reflects the cultures and communities that create it. Her research focuses on how a native Mandarin speaker's first language influences singing in Western languages such as English, German, French, and Italian. She also collaborates across disciplines, working with JMU's sports pyschology department to host workshops on performance anxiety, resilience, and building a supportive artistic community.

In the classroom, Rose strives to create an open, engaging environment where students can discover not just what music sounds like, but what it means—and why it matters in our lives today.
