Pianist Alyssa Conde serves as Adjunct Faculty at James Madison University, where she is a Doctor of Musical Arts Candidate in Piano Performance, Pedagogy, and Literature under the mentorship of Gabriel Dobner.

A defining current throughout her life is the music of Franz Schubert. Her deep affinity for art song led to an extensive study of Schubert’s Winterreise alongside Grammy Award–winning baritone Kevin McMillan. This relationship with Schubert extends into her doctoral research, where she explores the Wanderer Fantasy through the lens of Soundwalking, drawing upon soundscape studies, creative listening, and poetry to develop a performer-centered interpretive framework.

Her performance career includes recent appearances at the Palm Beach International Piano Festival, where she represented the United States, Roosevelt University’s PianoFest, the Rudolph Ganz Festival of Chicago, American Liszt Society Festivals, the International Double Reed Society Conference and the Staunton Music Festival.

Her repertoire spans traditional piano literature while embracing composers and musical voices deserving wider recognition. Recent programs have featured works by Ernesto Lecuona, George Walker, Margaret Bonds, and Juan Francisco García, whose music holds particular significance in her exploration of her Dominican heritage. As a member of The Unfolding Piano Duo, alongside Aleksandra Velgosha, she is also actively engaged in contemporary music, including the world premiere of Sawyer Gage’s Divine Aspirations for two pianos at the 2026 American Liszt Society Festival.

With a devotion to intimate performance, she founded the Shenandoah Valley House Concert Series, an initiative dedicated to cultivating meaningful connections between performers and audiences through the tradition of salon-style concerts.

As an educator, she also maintains an active home studio, with students regularly earning awards and superior ratings. She serves as Membership Chair of the Harrisonburg Music Teachers Association, a local chapter affiliated with the Music Teachers National Association. Before joining the faculty at James Madison University, she taught at the Chicago School of Music and Project 88 Music Academy of Chicago.

Alyssa holds a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Florida Atlantic University where she studied with Irena Kofman, and a Master of Music and Artist Diploma from Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts where she studied under Ludmila Lazar.
