Dr. Mabrey will be serving as JMU's Quality Enhancement Plan Director. As stated in the University-wide announcement, "Paul will lead the effort to research and design a comprehensive early alert system that will assist in reversing the decline in the overall retention rates and narrow the equity gap observed for students from underrepresented groups; Black, Indigenous, Students of Color (BISOC); low-income; and first-generation college students at JMU."

Service, Engagement, & Other Exciting News

Paul Morgan, Ph.D.

Paul Morgan has been elected to serve as the next chair of the National Council on Military Transition to Education (CMTE). The CMTE is a consortium of select institutions working with the Department of Defense to develop policies and processes to facilitate veterans’ transition into and progression through higher education.  He will serve on the board as chair-elect until his term begins in February 2022 and will continue to serve as the CMTE research subcommittee chair.

This academic year, Dr. Nick Langridge instructed his first class as a professor SCOM 413 Fundraising & Donor Motivation this Spring.

Dr. Langridge's division, University Advancement, surpassed their fundraising milestone for Unleashed - The Campaign for James Madison University of $200million 17 months earlier than anticipated.

This Summer, Dr. Swayne and the X-Labs team is running the Leading Human Powered Innovation Certificate Program. The program will be held in Lakeview Hall and will run June 14-17.  

Dr. Swayne is also serving on the planning team for the 2021 Defense Entrepreneurs Forum. The Defense Entrepreneurs Forum (DEF) is a national nonprofit that convenes events, forges partnerships, and delivers tangible solutions in order to promote a culture of innovation in national security. The Forum will be held October 21-24 of this year.
