Karina Kline-Gabel has served as a Senior Lecturer of Spanish for the Department of World Languages and Cultures since 2003 at James Madison University. She received her M.A. in Spanish Literature from the University of Virginia and her B.A. in International Affairs and Latin American Studies from JMU. Karina is an active member of the JMU Latin American & Caribbean Studies Committee as well as the founder of the Madison Hispanic Faculty Caucus. Her advocacy focuses on welcoming students and faculty to JMU.  Locally she serves as the director for the Hispanic Film Festival. A native of Harrisonburg, VA with Colombian heritage, she embraces the perspective of having been raised in a bilingual/bicultural household and seeks to direct her energy towards college access for all.
