Purpose
LAXC faculty can apply for a LAXC Course Enhancement Grant of up to $500 to support development and/or implementation of high-impact teaching and learning practices for your LAXC course(s) this semester.
Criteria for Selection
The LAXC Curriculum & Instruction (C&I) committee will review applications. We especially encourage LAXC faculty to use course enhancement grants to incubate co-curricular activities. To spark ideas, check out some recent projects like the Día de los Muertos programming, field trips to DC’s Gala Hispanic Theatre and the Latino exhibit at the American History Museum, and the visit of Argentine playwright and actors to share La bella en su jaula.

Timeline
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, while funds are available.
Managing Course Enhancement Funds
For full-time JMU instructional faculty, course enhancement funds are typically disbursed through budget transfers to the faculty member's home department, either through the reimbursement process (only for expenses that are reimbursable per state and university guidelines) or as a taxable stipend. The unit's administrative staff expends the funds, manages travel authorizations for field trips, and provides documentation to LAXC as needed. LAXC must receive approval from the faculty member's unit head or supervisor prior to the disbursement of funds from LAXC.
For adjunct faculty teaching LAXC courses, LAXC administrative staff will manage course-related expenditures.
