The interdisciplinary Humanitarian Affairs minor provides students with a global perspective on major issues facing the human community today. Students will investigate the impacts of natural disasters, disease, poverty, conflict, human rights violations, and governmental policies on human communities around the world. They will also explore solutions to humanitarian crises and some of the organizations that address those crises. Finally, students will acquire knowledge and skills that prepare them for careers in government or non-profit organizations that address humanitarian issues.
The minor in Humanitarian Affairs is open to all undergraduates at JMU. It requires successful completion of 18 hours of study.
