Karissa Eckels joined the Center for Global Engagement in October of 2022 and serves as a Coordinator for Global Learning and Partnerships. In this role, she collaborates with international universities and departments across JMU, assists with student programs, and coordinates travel logistics for students, faculty, and visitors. Karissa is a graduate of the University of Virginia with a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Health and Well-Being.

During her college years, she lived in an international residential college that molded her passion for multicultural engagement and connection within diverse communities. In her free time, Karissa loves hiking in the Shenandoah National Park, cooking new recipes, and attending church with her family. She has greatly enjoyed her experiences traveling to Costa Rica, Mexico, England, and France, and hopes to continue traveling to new countries in the coming years.
