A student’s housing environment plays a crucial role in their academic and personal success. JMU’s commitment to providing safe, comfortable, and supportive housing options is essential to creating an atmosphere conducive to student growth.

Potomac Hall is a U-shaped building with five floors and a basement, offering 461 beds across 113,294 square feet. In addition to typical double, single and RA rooms, Potomac Hall also features a variety of recreation rooms, TV lounges, and study rooms for individuals and groups.

The intentional design of these spaces enable students to develop community. Residents enjoy an exterior courtyard, a community kitchen, laundry rooms on each floor, and an ice machine/vending area. “Pod style” bathrooms are community-based in the hallways, but consist of several smaller private bathrooms, allowing each resident to have privacy.
