Kendal Swartzentruber is the Director of the I’m Determined Center at James Madison University. He began his career as a special educator and behavioral specialist, experiences that continue to inform his work today. Kendal’s current focus centers on self-determination, motivation, and student engagement. He believes that agency is a powerful catalyst for creativity and imagination—both essential to meaningful teaching and learning. Outside of his professional life, Kendal enjoys spending time with his family, gardening, hobby farming, and exploring the outdoors.
