  • JMU’s B.B.A. with a concentration in human resource management is now aligned with the Society for Human Resource Management’s (SHRM) HR Curriculum Guidebook and Templates, which means our students can waive the two-year work experience requirement that is normally required prior to taking SHRM’s professional certification exam
  • The SHRM Executive Board leadership team was awarded the SHRM Merit Award for the fourth year in a row in 2019

Our Faculty

Our faculty consists of 23 academics with terminal or advanced degrees in the field of management, many whom also have significant managerial experience in business. Faculty areas of expertise include: business consulting, entrepreneurship, human resource management, innovation, leadership, organizational behavior, and strategic management.

Major Related Experience
  • Approximately 70 % of Management majors complete one or more internships before graduating
  • Management students can complete an approved internship experience for academic credit in their Management program of study
  • Approximately 20% of Management students participate in a study abroad experience
  • Students in the Management of Innovation and Technology course compete in a case competition co-sponsored by Deloitte Consulting
  • Students in the Business Analysis and Consulting course work in teams to complete client based consulting projects
  • Students in the Project Management course learn to use project management software
  • Students in the Venture creation course form teams and develop viable business ventures that compete for start-up capital
